The ensemble of MARIONETTENTHEATER SCHLOSS SCHÖNBRUNN presented Austria’s most famous composers W. A. Mozart and Johann Strauss Son at the Opera Festival 2007 in Daegu... and enchanted the audience at two sold out shows.
The shows took place on the 7th and 8th of September in Daegu, the capital of South Korea. There was a lot of laughter in the audience when the theatre performed „Johann Strauss and the Danubemaid“, written and directed by Gerhard Tötschinger, because the show was recorded and additionally given subtitles in korean language. The love of music of the korean audience was especially felt when the marionettes performed „A Little Nightmusic“ as a ballet.
January 2007 - Cyprus
Mozart and the marionettes on a trip to CyprusThe marionettes of Schönbrunn were given a warm welcome when they performed in Cyprus from January the 23rd to January 27th
About 2000 people in Larnaka, Limassol and Nicosia were taken into the magic realm of Mozart’s opera „The Magic Flute“ by the marionettes.
Performing in such big theatres like in Nicosia in front of an audience of 800 people is always a very special experience for the ensemble. It’s amazing how the marionettes „grow“ in ones mind and thus enchant people even further away from the stage.

In Stratford the ensemble performed four shows, they were seen by about 1000 people. Additional to the shows three workshops were organized where children and adults learned how to make their own marionettes. Afterwards a little ballet was rehearsed together. At the same time the 50th Aniversary of The Ontario Puppetry Association / Puppeteers of AmericaGreat Lakes Regional Festival took place in London, Canada. Experiences were exchanged and the ensemble also met again Ronnie Burkett whom they had met in Vienna in 2005 for the first time and who was planning to attend „Wiener Festwochen“ in 2007.
